Botox

Repetitive facial expressions cause wrinkles, think of forehead wrinkles, frown wrinkles and crow's feet. They stand out and make you look older and more tired. Aesthetic Beauty Center can treat these wrinkles using botulinum toxin. Our doctors insert this injectable under the muscles of your wrinkles. This will temporarily relax the muscles. The result of this is that the skin looks tighter and / or is pulled up and the wrinkles will be less visible. You will get a much younger, fresher and healthier look.

Treatments with Botox

Botox blocks the stimulus transfer from the nerves to the muscles that cause wrinkles, temporarily paralyzing them. Contraction or contraction of these muscles is no longer possible, with the result that your wrinkles tighten and your skin comes to rest. After a few months, muscle activity recovers; botox has no lasting effect. Wrinkles occur because certain muscles in our face are always pulled together because of our mimicry. In the beginning, these are still dynamic wrinkles; they disappear again. But in later life, these become static wrinkles; permanent wrinkles. You can also suffer from gravity wrinkles. These are caused by sagging of the skin due to gravity. Gravitational lines are easy to treat with fillers. During treatments, our doctors often use a combination of botox and fillers.

We apply botox to:

  • Frown wrinkles
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Lowered eyebrows
  • Crow's feet (wrinkles next to the eyes)
  • Bunny lines (wrinkles next to the nose)
  • Marionette lines (wrinkles along the corners of the mouth)
  • Gummy smile (too active upper lip muscle so that gums are visible)
  • Sagging jawline
  • Necklines (turkey neck)

Botox brands we use

Botox® is a brand name for botulinum toxin. Brands we use are Dysport® and Bocouture®. These are all A-brands: they are extremely safe, work well and have been used millions of times. Botulinum toxin is a natural protein and falls under the Medicines Act.

The treatment procedure

The treatment procedure consists of: a free intake of 10 minutes, the administration, the treatment itself, instructions from the doctor for the best possible result and a check-up appointment if needed.

Personal Advice

Our doctors have a lot of knowledge about the anatomy and the physiological aging process. They have also carried out thousands of botox treatments to their satisfaction. They will therefore be able to provide you with good, personal advice. This consultation takes place during a non-binding intake, 10 minutes before the treatment starts. It is also possible to schedule a separate intake. During the conversation, the doctor listens extensively to your wishes and tells you what the possibilities are. Sometimes it is necessary to inject a filler if the wrinkles are too deep.

Before the Treatment

We ask you to be present 15 minutes in advance for the administrative handling and the intake interview. Furthermore, we recommend that you do not take blood-thinning medications or drink alcohol 48 hours in advance.

The Treatment

When you sit in the chair in the treatment room, the doctor will disinfect your skin and note the puncture locations. He will then inject the botox in extremely small amounts into the muscles surrounding the wrinkles in question. After a few small injections, the treatment is finished. Together, this takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

Na de behandeling

We recommend that you follow the doctor's instructions carefully after the treatment for optimal results. You may experience slight swelling and bruising after treatment, but this will quickly subside. The effect of botox is visible after 3 to 4 days. But the final result is visible after 2 weeks. Usually, the effect of botox lasts 3 to 5 months. But if you have botox injected for the first time, you will have to come back faster for a re-treatment. Botox needs a build-up time of several months. The more often you use botox, the better and longer the result.

Check-up

If necessary, you can come back after 2 to a maximum of 3 weeks for a check-up. The doctor will then evaluate the treatment together with you and schedule a new treatment if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What side effects are there?

Usually you will experience some redness, a slight swelling or bruising. But this goes away quickly. If you get an allergic reaction, it is important that you immediately call our clinic for advice or contact your doctor. If there is still a lot of muscle activity present, it can be decided to inject some extra botox. This is included in the price. And if there is still muscle activity after the refill, it means that your body does not respond well to it and further treatment is of no use.

Does a Botox treatment hurt?

You may feel something from the needle, but usually a botox treatment is not experienced as painful. An anesthetic is not necessary.

What is the difference between botox and fillers?

Botox and fillers are both injectables, but they don't work the same way. Fillers fill wrinkles and are most effective for deeper wrinkles. Think of bags under your eyes. We can also use fillers to make the cheekbones look nice. Botox blocks the stimulus transfer from the nerves to the muscles, temporarily paralyzing the muscles. As a result, no contraction of the muscles is possible, the wrinkles tighten and the skin comes to rest. You can temporarily no longer optimally activate certain muscles that cause wrinkles.

Can I become addicted to botox?

No, this is not possible. The substance is not addictive. But some people can get used to the result of botox and come to the clinic earlier than necessary. We always keep an eye on this. If it is too early for a botox treatment, we will tell you honestly.

When does the effect of Botox decrease?

Usually the result lasts about 3 to 5 months. But if you have just started botox, it may have worn off earlier. Botox needs a build-up time of about six months.

Is a treatment with Botox dangerous?

Only in very high concentrations is botox dangerous. But this is not allowed in our industry.

Do I get more wrinkles when the effect of botox decreases?

No, not at all. You have not actively used your muscles around your wrinkles for a long time. Some muscles have even forgotten their function a bit. A good example of this is the frown. If your frown has been inactive for a long time, you will frown less when the effect of Botox decreases.

When is a treatment with botox not allowed?

Botox is not allowed:

  • When you are pregnant.
  • When you suffer from muscle problems.
  • When you are taking antibiotics or muscle relaxants.
  • When you have a condition or are taking medicines that affect blood clotting.
  • When you have had complications in the past after a treatment with botox.
  • When you recently have had a tetanus injection.

Will I get a face without expression after the treatment?

No, we do not use too much botox in muscles that take care of your mimicry. You can still talk and laugh without any problems. However, certain facial expressions such as looking angry or surprised can be less when treating the frown or forehead.

Am I too young for botox treatment?

From the age of 18 you can be treated with botox. After that, you are never too young for a botox treatment. On the contrary: especially starting wrinkles can be remedied very well with botox. These are often completely gone after the treatment. If you start early, you will avoid deep wrinkles and you will probably never need fillers or other means for these zones.

Of course we will also give you honest advice if you do not need botox yet.
