Body shaping

Over the years, collagen production in the skin decreases, causing the skin to slacken, lose volume and droop. We can use fillers to restore volume. Often when using fillers, the face is mainly thought of, but fillers can be injected in more places in the body. Think, for example, of softening wrinkles at the knees and elbows, but also of lifting or enlarging the buttocks. The product we use for this is called Lanluma.

Lanluma

Lanluma is a different type of filler than a filler based on hyaluronic acid. The substance poly-L-lactic acid, in Lanluma, gradually puts the body to work to produce collagen. This means that it takes a while until you see the result of your treatment, but your patience is rewarded – the result remains 3 to 5 years. What also makes Lanluma different from the fillers you are probably used to, is that Lanluma can be used very well for larger surfaces. For example, with Lanluma, we can fill your hip dips!

Lanluma V, Lanluma X & Sculptra

There are three different fillers based on the substance poly-L-lactic acid that are often used. Lanluma V is used for the face and Lanluma X is used for the body. Sculptra is the forerunner of Lanluma and you may encounter that name more often. Basically, it's the same product. The advantage of Lanluma over Sculptra is that Lanluma comes in larger quantities and is therefore cheaper and more practical in using large skin surfaces.

What are the strength differences (mg) between Sculptra, Lanluma V and Lanluma X?

The difference between Sculptra, Lanluma V and Lanluma X is as follows:

  • Sculptra = 150 mg per vial, so 300 mg if there are two vials. Each vial should be reconstituted with 5 ml of sterile water each.
  • Lanluma V = 210 mg (1 vial) to be reconstituted with 15 ml of sterile water.
  • Lanluma X = 630 mg (1 vial) to be reconstituted with 40 ml of sterile water.

Body shaping can for example be done for the following areas:

  • Filling Hip dips
  • Butt lift
  • Buttock augmentation
  • Upper arm lift
  • Wrinkles on the décolleté
  • Knees
  • Elbows

Filler brands we use

To create and restore the volume on large surfaces in the body we use Lanluma or Sculptra. This is a different type of filler than fillers based on hyaluronic acid (such as Stylage) and /or calcium (such as Radiesse). Lanluma is a unique filler based on Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA), which stimulates the production of collagen in the body. The volume of the treated area gradually becomes visible in 3 to 6 months after treatment. Unlike fillers based on hyaluronic acid, you need a little patience before you see real results. This patience is rewarded; the result lasts for 3 to 5 years.

Procedure of the Treatment

The treatment procedure consists of: a free intake of 10 minutes, anesthetic, the administration, the treatment itself, instructions from the doctor for the best possible result and a check-up appointment if needed.

Personal Advice

To start with, you will receive personal advice from one of our doctors. Our doctors specialize in creating and restoring volume in the body. During a non-binding intake of 15 minutes you express your wishes to the doctor and the doctor will draw up a treatment plan based on your wishes. The doctor will also tell you what to expect from the treatment and the doctor will discuss any alternative. You can only schedule a treatment appointment after a consultation. During the planning of the treatment, the entire amount of the treatment must be paid.

Before the Treatment

You can start taking arnica tablets a few days before treatment. This is not necessary, but it is allowed. Arnica tablets reduce the risk of swelling and bruising. You are also more likely to bruise when consuming alcohol, smoking, eating garlic and using blood-thinning medications such as ibuprofen.

We ask you to be present at least 15 minutes in advance. We then have the time for the administration.

The Treatment

The area to be treated is first anaesthetised with an injection. After this, the product is inserted using a cannula. The filler is also mixed with anesthetic. Finally, the doctor will massage the treated area so that the filler spreads well and there is no accumulation. The treatment takes about half an hour to an hour.

After the Treatment

You will experience some bruising, redness and slight swelling after the treatment. This is most visible in the first 3 days. The entire de-swelling period lasts 2 weeks. The initial volume will initially decrease. This is due to swelling, but the product is also mixed with sterile water. This sterile water will disappear from the body. After this, the volume gradually returns through the collagen production that is stimulated by the product.

You will receive instructions from the doctor. It is important to follow these carefully, for the best possible result. For example, for the next 5 days after treatment, you should massage the area for 5 minutes for 5 times a day. The end result depends for 50% on the treatment and for 50% on the aftercare.

If you are coming for the first time, it is important that you know that all fillers have a build-up period, especially fillers based on poly-L-lactic acid. You may have to come back a few times for the desired result. If the desired result is achieved, this will remain for 3 to 5 years. After that, a touch-up is needed. Probably less is needed than with the first treatment, but this differs per person and depends on your wishes.

Check-up after-treatment and re-treatment

It is possible to have a check-up 6 to 8 weeks after the treatment. If you suffer from bumps, asymmetry or other imperfections, we can treat them free of charge. It is also possible to schedule a re-treatment, for example if you are not yet satisfied with the volume or you are still building up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What side effects are there?

You may experience a slight swelling or some bruising. These are most visible in the first 3 days after the treatment, then it slowly becomes less. If you suffer from an allergic reaction, call us or the doctor immediately.

When should I not be treated with Lanluma?

  • If you previously had a hypersensitivity reaction to a filler based on poly-L lactic acid.
  • If you are pregnant.
  • If there is already permanent filling material at the site of treatment that is not the body's own. So you can undergo a treatment after a BBL.
  • If there is another filling material at the site of treatment of which it is not clear whether this can be accompanied by poly-L-lactic acid.
  • If there is an active infection in the area to be treated.

How long does the result of the treatment last?

It takes a while (sometimes up to 6 months) until the optimal result of treatment with Lanluma is visible. That patience is rewarded. The result remains visible for 3 to 5 years.

Why don't you use permanent fillers?

This is prohibited by law. The substances that make up permanent fillers cannot be broken down by the body. This makes you more likely to have bumps or infections. These complications can occur even years later. The temporary fillers usually do not have any serious complications. These are therefore a lot safer.

I have been treated to the area before, is it dangerous if I undergo this treatment?

If you have previously had a BBL or liposuction in the area to be treated, you can be treated. However, you may notice that there is scarring in the area and feel this during the treatment. If you have implants, you cannot be treated with a filler. Even if you have ever been treated with permanent filler, we recommend that you no longer have a filler injected in that particular place to prevent risks.

Don't I look unnatural after the filler treatment?

No, we work subtly and by building up the filler can be dosed very well.

Can I work the next day?

Yes, that's usually not a problem. The advantage of this treatment over surgery is that the recovery is much less intensive. We do not recommend that you exercise for the first two weeks or go to the sauna. Also, you will massage the area five times a day, five minutes, for five days.
