Belkyra / Kybella
Belkyra, also known as Kybella, is a fat-dissolving injectable consisting of deoxyncholine acid. Deoxycholine acid occurs naturally in the body and breaks down fat cells. Usually this treatment is used to break down the submental fat, i.e. the fat under the chin. It takes 6 to 8 weeks until the end result of the treatment is visible. These results are permanent.

Treatment with Belkyra is an alternative to liposuction. The advantage of Belkyra is that the treatment is much less invasive. You will only experience a burning sensation in the treated area on the first day. The following days the area will no longer hurt, but we will be swelling. That swelling disappears after a few days and the result gradually becomes visible.

The Treatment
The procedure takes an average of 30 minutes. It depents on the amount of fat under the chin how many injections it should be treated with. After the skin is cleaned with alcohol, the area under the chin is accurately marked with a skin pencil.
After the Treatment
Immediately after the treatment, due to the efficacy of deoxycholic acid, the lower chin will swell and become red. Insofar as pain complaints arise during the treatment, they disappear quickly by cooling immediately after the injections. Some bruises may also occur. The swelling, redness and bruising disappear after 7-10 days. You can immediately resume your daily activities, the only thing you have to take into account is visibility of the swelling of the lower chin. It is advisable to take 2 tablets of 500 mg paracetamol 3 times a day on the first day, then you will be the least limited after the treatment. This is not strictly necessary. The next morning, or the same evening, you can shower.
Control, after-treatment and re-treatment
No check-up appointment is required after a treatment with Belkyra. However, if you are not satisfied with the result after eight weeks, it is always possible to visit one of our cosmetic doctors. This is possible between the 8th and 10th week after your treatment.

The first treatment costs €650,-. Often 1 treatment is sufficient. If a second treatment is needed, it costs € 450, -
